You adorable man you noticed when I wasn't online? *swoon * How kind!
Everything's fine now, we have power and such, there's just all kinds of political crap that goes with it...among other things the mayor's niece went on Facebook and ranted about how "ungrateful" we the plebeians were for the city's efforts, so you can guess how the ruling dynasty feels about the citizens.
What memories? Goodness! Mix-tapes, obviously. Every Sunday evening my sister and I used to records our favourite songs from the Top 40 on Radio 1. It was a ritual that lasted for years. I also used to record a lot of live sessions from my favourite bands that aired on the radio. I still have most of them and break them out from time to time when I want a little bit of nostalgia ♥
What else? My parents had this really, really old cassette player/recorder that had a microphone jack in it (which, when my sisters and I were younger we thought was the most amazing things ever) so we used to record our own songs. There'd be me, my older sister and my cousin all singing into a pair of headphones - which worked in leiu of a microphone - singing our little hearts out. None of us could sing and the songs were terrible. We made one up once that contained all of the song titles from Blur's Parklife. And I can still remember all of the lyrics. At the End of a Century on Bank Holiday / I got a Badhead in the morning...We were awesome XD
I also utterly adore the Japanese band FAIRY FORE who used to give out quite a few demo tapes at gigs. A lot of them are really rare and it's my mission in life is to try and collect them all. My pride and joy is a demo called YOU which is the earliest one I've managed to get so far. I am absolutely desperate to try and track down their first, a tape called FLOWLY. However, it was given away at one of their earliest gigs in 1994 and there were only 50 copies made... D:
I've always loved music and I've always been a bit behind the times so I still had a walkman when people were changing to discmans and then mp3 players. I have an mp3 player now but that's mainly because I don't always have a pen on me...
So yes, cassette tapes and I go way back and I adore them very much. Thank you for prompting me to revisit those good old memories. <3
Wow those memories sound so fun! Hahaa i loved that fact you could use headphones in that way XD We used to have this bright yellow cassette player (very 90s LOL) but had a lot of fun memories with it with my bro c: HAHA i know all the words to parklife too! Thats such an amazing song! Id always screw up recording own tapes as a kid because we would have to press the record and play buttons down at the same time? I dont know if it was the same for you haha
I cant say ive ever heard of FAIRY FORE what kind of music do they play? o:
